Leading the Change
PMHE is a community-driven initiative dedicated to advancing mental health equity and creating culturally relevant solutions for Black and African American young adults in Philadelphia. Bringing together Drexel faculty, students, community members, and young adults themselves, we co-design digital mental health tools and interventions that reflect the experiences, priorities, and needs of the communities we serve.
About Us
PMHE is an interdisciplinary working group based at Drexel University, dedicated to advancing mental health equity for Black and African American young adults in Philadelphia. We unite faculty, students, community members, and young people themselves to co-create digital mental health solutions that are culturally relevant, community-driven, and built to last. Everything we do starts with one belief: the communities most affected should have the most say in the solutions that serve them.

Objectives
Building Partnerships
Establish a diverse working group that brings together Drexel faculty, students, community stakeholders, and young adults through dedicated stakeholder and young adult advisory boards.
Co-designed Intervention
We engage Black young adults as both participants and co-designers in a digital photovoice project that uses social media to explore mental health, racial discrimination, and community support.
Training and Mentorship
Provide Drexel students and staff with hands-on training in culturally responsive, community-engaged mental health equity research, building a pipeline of future researchers committed to addressing racial health disparities and advancing health equity.
Become a leader
Whether you're a student researcher, community partner, or young person ready to make a difference, there's a place for you here. Join the Young Adults Advisory Council or the Working Group and help shape the future of mental health equity.
Our Partners
PMHE is built on the power of collaboration, bringing together Drexel faculty, students, community organizations, young adults, and mental health stakeholders to create meaningful, lasting change.
